The centennial celebration program of Artemis is gradually taking shape. On April 23, during the annual Tallship Company crew day, we will raise a glass together with our crew to celebrate this special anniversary year.
One of the major highlights will be the Tall Ships Races Harlingen, taking place from July 3 to July 6 in our home port of Harlingen. During the event, visitors will be able to explore and experience the 100-year history of Artemis both on the quay and on board in various ways. On Saturday, July 4, the ship’s figurehead will be officially unveiled. This will be followed by a private voyage with family and friends of Artemis.
The celebrations will continue on July 5, when Artemis departs Harlingen in the Sail Out Parade bound for Antwerp. This special anniversary voyage promises to be a unique opportunity for people from Harlingen (and far beyond ;-) ) to finally experience what it is like to sail aboard the iconic white tall ship from their hometown. Another important milestone will be a private family and friends voyage across the Baltic Sea to Larvik, the place where, exactly 100 years ago, the order was given to build Artemis. A festive weekend is planned there from 24 to 26 July together with members of the local seamen’s association.
The anniversary program will conclude with a special jubilee voyage for loyal guests from Larvik to Rostock. Jan Bruinsma will personally welcome guests aboard in Larvik, and throughout the voyage special attention will be given to celebrating the 100-year history of Artemis.
