The island of Corsica is an ideal destination to discover by boat. The journey starts in Olbia on the north-east coast of Sardinia.
In the morning after breakfast the sails are finally hoisted and who knows you will sail along the smallest kingdom in the world. Like a craggy rock head stretching a sandy headland towards the visitor, it juts out of the blue Mediterranean off the coast of Sardinia: the island of Tavolara, at around six square kilometres the smallest inhabited kingdom in the world.
Or the Atlantis will sail along the famous coastal strip "Costa Smeralda", which got its name from the emerald green waters of the sea. On the way to the Strait of Boniface, there is also the La Madalena archipelago. It consists of over 62 islands and islets, seven of which are main islands.
From this point on, the captain will decide which route is the most suitable from a wind point of view in order to experience beautiful sailing days.
In the south of Corsica, Bonifacio is situated on heavily eroded cliffs. The entrance to Bonifacio is breathtaking - a natural fjord-like inlet between high chalk cliffs. The town gave its name to the "Strait of Bonifacio" between Corsica and the island of Sardinia, 12 kilometres away. Bonifacio is one of the most spectacular places on the island. The upper town is located on the 70-metre-high plateau of a chalk cliff and the narrow footbridges invite you to stroll through the old town.
The Corsican west coast is perhaps the most varied and spectacular coastline in the entire Mediterranean. Enormous rock formations alternate with lovely little bays, small fishing villages and defiant mountain villages present themselves to the sailor, as well as wide sandy beaches with crystal-clear water. The Corsican west coast offers all this to those who anchor there with a sailing boat or call at one of the small harbours.
Between Bonifacio and St Florent, the Corsican coast offers beautiful bays with sandy or rocky beaches. Many sheltered anchorages can be found around Calvi, Ajaccio and Propriano. Ajaccio is France's record holder with 2900 hours of sunshine a year. It is also the birthplace of Napoleon and lies between the mountains and the sea in the largest bay of the island. The coastline also offers unspoilt countryside and small coves. Perhaps we will take a trip to lles Lavezzi, where the water is coloured like a lagoon and invites you to swim.
Possible ports: Calvi, Ajaccio, Propriano, Bonifacio, Bastia
Note: Wind and weather can have a significant impact on the trip. If necessary due to unforeseen circumstances, changes to the itinerary may be made.
