Your journey begins in Harlingen, where the centenary of Artemis will be celebrated in style. After the festivities, you will set sail on her first voyage with the newly revealed figurehead: a whale, a powerful symbol of the ship’s past. Once a whaling vessel, Artemis now carries her history with pride—combining the legacy of the former whaling industry with the elegant rigging of a barque and the energy of a young, enthusiastic crew.

Leaving Harlingen in a festive Parade of Sail, you will sail south along the Dutch coast towards Antwerp. Without the pressure of racing, this Cruise in Company offers the perfect balance between hands-on sail training and relaxation. Guided by the experienced crew, you will learn every aspect of life on a tall ship: hoisting sails, steering the ship, navigating, standing watch, and—if you dare—climbing the masts for breathtaking views over sea and sky.

The route is flexible and shaped by wind and weather. You may drop anchor to stretch your legs, take a refreshing swim straight from the ship, or sail out into open waters to fully immerse yourself in nature. There is time to develop new skills, time to unwind, and time to enjoy the unique rhythm of life at sea.

Life on board Artemis is not only about sailing. A professional chef prepares fresh, flavourful meals each day to keep everyone energized. For those who enjoy it, you are very welcome to lend a hand in the galley and be part of the daily life on board.

Gepäckliste

It is advised to travel with a travel bag instead of a hard suitcase, since it is better to stow.
A passport, if you need it for the planned trip. Otherwise an identity card is sufficient. (Inform yourself in advance)
Oilskins are not necessary, but a good rainproof jacket, rain trousers and sturdy shoes are always good. Be it for hiking, cycling or helping on deck.
Don't forget sunglasses, a sun hat or cap and sun cream, even when the sun is not visible you can get quite burnt.
A good book for a bit of solitude or a good parlour game to play together with your fellow sailors.
A camera! So that you can capture your memories and share them with those at home.
Cash, because here you can only pay your drinks bill in cash. But also think about the currency of the country you are travelling to so you can buy a souvenir.
