Milemaker - Ostend and city tour Brugges with the Artemis

Are you looking for an adventurous sailing trip with a cultural highlight? Then sail with the Artemis van Kiel to Ostend and/ or Ostend to Kiel and visit the pearl of Belgium: Bruges!

This trip can be booked as a return trip, however it is  also possible to book one way with the Artemis and to come to or leave from Bruges by plane. The Ostend-Bruges International Airport is very easy to reach from the seaport, hence we like to give you the option.
May 19, 15:00 - May 23, 09:00 (4 nights) € 480
The first part of the journey begins! A beautiful crossing from Kiel to Ostend (Belgium). Our milemaker trips are about making miles to get somewhere, therefore we sail day and night to reach Ostend in time for the large harbor festival OSTEND AT ANCHOR. We love sailing, as it's ecologically sound and economical and the most comfortable way to sail a large ship, but if necessary, we also use the engine.
The route goes via the Kiel Canal, along the German and Dutch coast to Ostend. If we are far ahead of schedule due to good weather conditions, then a stop in Scheveningen could be a possibility. This is decided by the captain en route. During sailing you are welcome to assist the crew with sailing and you can also join the crew in the waiting schedule. Especially at night this is very nice.

23rd of May, 09:00 hours - 26th of May, 20:00 hours (3 nights)
Enjoy your own city strip in Bruges! (Overnight on the Artemis is not possible)
Once you have arrived in the port city of Ostend you can take the train to Bruges (12 minutes). We recommend booking a hotel in Bruges, so there won't be any last minute surprises with your accommodation. Take the time to enjoy Bruges, because it is a special city. A place that will conquer a special spot in your heart, even if you can never fully understand the city. An organically grown city, made by its fascinating history, which got it labeled to be UNESCO World Heritage City without a sliver of a doubt.

Do you have time left? Explore the wider area of Bruges. The Bruges countryside will spoil you with medieval villages, beautiful castles and endless cycling routes that will take you through all this beauty. Or if you go towards the coast, you will find beautiful beaches and an authentic fishing atmosphere. If you prefer to explore another city, Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels are relatively close.

26th of May, 20:00 hours - 31st of May, 09:00 hours (5 nights) € 580
We look forward to seeing you (back) on board the Artemis from 20:00hours. Before 20:00 hours we are still occupied with the harbour festival Ostend at Anchor, however you're welcome to hand your bags to the crew on board the Artemis for storage. That way you will have your hands free to enjoy the port festival on the shore and get a feel of Ostend. Then the return journey begins. As you know, this is a crossing, with a time frame in which we need to be in Kiel. Our focus will be on sailing as many miles as possible in a day, so we also sail at night. We have allowed enough time for a short detour to England, provided the weather gods play along with us, then we continue our route along the Dutch and German coast via the Kiel Canal to Kiel, Holtenau. During the crossing you are (once again) welcome to assist the crew hoisting the sails and/or take part in the watch schedule. Especially at night this is a very special experience. Once you have arrived in Kiel, you can look back on a varied sailing and city trip, which is definitely worth repeating!
